ABOUT THE FAMILY:

Felicia, wife and mother of the family we are sponsoring, was a fashion student at Collins College when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She overcame this illness with surgeries and chemo therapy, while continuing in school. Recently, the family has also been devastated by a fire. Thankfully, none of the family were physically harmed, but Felicia, her husband and their three children lost all of their possessions, escaping the fire with only what they had on their backs. In light of this loss, the family are in need of everything to start to rebuild their lives from household goods to clothing, food, fashion design tools ad supplies and even toys for the children.

Cash donations are preferred so that the family can purchase items that they need. In addition, please feel free to bring new items, gift cards from Target, and even toys. If you have specific questions, please contact Nicole at nicolemaletta@yahoo.com. Happy Holidays!

WEARizona Exhibition Opening

WEARizona

WEARizona: Showcasing Southwestern historical and contemporary fashion.

When people hear the exhibit is about Arizona’s fashion history, they respond with a quizzical look and the question “Does Arizona have a fashion history?”

Indeed it does!

The exhibit includes the iconic Patio dress, commonly referred to as a “squaw dress,” from the 1940s-1950s, a period of exponential growth in the number of residents and vacationers in Arizona. The dress became so popular that there were even newsreel films made about it and shown across the country.

There will also be some contemporary designers featured, as well as some educational programs going on throughout the month. Check out the schedule.
